Getting a beer at a football game can cost more than a 12-pack at your local gas station. Luckily for thirsty and hungry fans, a new trend in football stadiums means they can now enjoy concessions at games at reduced prices.
The Detroit Lions are the most recent team to offer discounted deals with their Silver Savings promotion. For the first hour after the gates open, fans will enjoy $2 sodas, $2 hot dogs, $3 packaged beers, $3 well drinks, and $5 specialty cocktails at select areas. Following this, Bud Light and Miller Light can be purchased for $5; a hot dog, chips, and soda combo costs $10; and a hot dog, chips, and beer combo costs $15.
Lions president Rod Wood released a statement that said “These fan-friendly, value-added food and beverage options are another example of us taking feedback from fans and using it to improve our gameday experience. Over the past year, we have spent considerable time working with Levy,” the Lion’s hospitality partner, “to get something in place that makes sense for our fans without hurting the quality or speed of service. We’re thrilled to be able to introduce these value options in time for the 2018 season.”
The Lions are not the first team to offer their fans discount prices. Last year, the Atlanta Falcons’ Fan First Menu Pricing offered $3 nachos and $5 draft Bud Light beer. The deals were credited in part for a 16% increase in fan spending, a 90% increase in merchandise sales, and the Falcons being listed in among the top three NFL teams for the gameday experience.
Earlier this year, the Baltimore Ravens also jumped on the bandwagon and announced they will offer their Flock Friendly Fare discounts for this upcoming season. These deals include a $5 beer, $3 hot dog, and $6 hamburger. If none of those teams are yours, don’t worry. We believe that soon enough the other 29 NFL teams will fall in line and offer reduced prices for their concessions as well.
