Dash To The Shops
If you’re hoping to make your own pasta, you won’t have to spend too much on ingredients. You only really need three large eggs, 250 grams of plain flour, and a dash of olive oil and sea salt. Pretty cheap considering you can potentially get several meals worth out of this one creation.
Mix It All Together
Mixing everything together isn’t that difficult given you can basically just throw everything into a food processor. Toss in the eggs with a tablespoon of oil and half a teaspoon of salt first, then add in the flour afterward. You want to pour it in steadily and watch as the dough basically makes itself. Once all the flour is in, and your satisfied the mixture is sufficiently doughy, remove it and place onto your counter.
Have Some Patience
With plenty of flour on the work surface to stop the dough from sticking to it, knead it until you’re content that it’s smooth. Then, rub some of the oil on the mixture, wrap it in clingfilm, and leave it alone. For the next half an hour, you’ll need to find time to occupy yourself before the dough is ready to transform into pasta.
Stretch It Out
With your pasta machine at the ready, push the dough through on the widest setting. Afterward, fold it into thirds and put it through the machine again. Repeat this four times, then start reducing the wideness setting. Keep going down until you’re satisfied with the thickness, by which point you’ll probably have a long sheet of dough. Find somewhere safe where it can dry for half an hour, then get cooking.
There are so many different shapes of pasta you can make so feel free to get creative. You can go as simple or extravagant as you like. Just don’t forget to cook the dough in some boiling water before you start eating it.
